Robert Nio

Backend / Systems Engineer

Production backend engineer at Intuit. Outside of work, I build Rust systems projects focused on indexing, data pipelines, caching, benchmarking, and developer tooling. I care about measurable performance, operational correctness, and turning slow workflows into simpler, more reliable systems.

UFFS (Rust) Portfolio Resume PDF Email LinkedIn

Open to: Backend, platform, and performance-oriented infrastructure roles • Location: Remote or hybrid (SF Bay Area)

Selected public work

TTAPI source is private; public materials use synthetic or non-sensitive examples.

Recent work at Intuit

  • Built and shipped backend changes behind feature flags to make financial feed behavior safer to roll out and easier to validate in production.
  • Worked on Shopify fees ingestion and payout enrichment across environments and deployment stages.
  • Contributed to transaction list aggregate/parity improvements in QuickBooks backend systems.

Areas I like working in

  • Indexing, search, and data-intensive backend workflows
  • Performance measurement, caching, and reproducible benchmarking
  • Data pipelines, reliability work, and developer tooling

How I work

  • Measure first: benchmark before and after changes
  • Prefer clear APIs, strong tests, and predictable operational behavior
  • Ship incrementally with feature flags, small PRs, and straightforward rollouts

Tech I use

Kotlin Java Rust Python Tokio Polars tracing Criterion proptest
