Hi everyone,

My institution and email domain are recognized by GitHub. The verification flow only allows camera capture and does not allow document uploads. What type of document should I present to the camera to verify my educator status?

💡 Why Your ID is Being Rejected & How to Fix It

The automated "cannot recognize your academic status" loop happens because GitHub's optical character recognition (OCR) bot looks for specific indicators that standard faculty ID cards often omit.

If your ID card is missing a clear expiration date, contains non-English text, or your GitHub profile name has even a small mismatch, the bot automatically rejects the camera capture.

Since the portal forces a live camera capture instead of a file upload, use this checklist to pass the automated verification or bypass it completely.

1. Fix Your GitHub Profile First (Critical)

The bot compares the text in your camera capture against your GitHub settings. If they do not match exactly, it triggers an instant rejection.

• Go to your Public Profile Settings and update your Name to match the exact spelling on your academic ID. Do not use nicknames or abbreviations.
