It’s Got Too Hard

Level 10,000+, age 75, IQ 146. Ask me a few months ago and I’d have awarded 5 stars without question. I’ve been playing daily for years, and it’s my only guilty pleasure. But, recently it’s got so difficult it’s become boring. No longer are there easy levels to skip through, and unless you’re prepared to pay for extra boosters, it’s not unusual to be stuck on one level for days - playing 5 in a row then waiting a few hours to play another 5. Most levels now need little skill, but require extraordinary amounts of luck. Occasionally you’ll spot a trick, but generally you’re waiting for the game to inject a succession of helpful boosters. I used to be able to build up a store of my own boosters, awarded free for winning levels. Now I’m completing so few games I never have enough. It’s a Catch 22 situation- you need boosters to win levels, but if you don’t win levels you don’t receive enough boosters. Five stars for beginners and intermediaries, One star for advanced players. Please Mr Developer, make the game fun again.

Easy to lose interest in.

This is going to be a mostly critical review, because there’s really not much I enjoy about it at this point. It’s a game to play when I’m bored, an app to open for the daily gift. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve played for a few days consecutively then neglected the game entirely for something else. There’s just not enough in the game to keep someone interested when you get into the thousands territory of levels. There needs to be more events and more chances to win in events, because it’s ridiculous to insist that you have to get sugar stars 10x and whatnot just to win a 1 hour booster. The amount of things that pop up when you open the app and have to vigorously tap through is annoying. Getting rid of the spin to win when you lose a game was a mistake, obviously a money ploy. Another thing is the beanstalk. You lose all your winnings to see that you can try again in another 24 hours which isn’t the case, you’ll get another chance in a week or two. I’m aware of how nitpicky parts of this review will seem, I’m very bored and I like to complain, hopefully this is all taken on board. One thing I do currently like about the game is booster bot, I don’t think it’s insanely generous to compensate for the things I’ve complained about but it’s a consistent positive thing nonetheless, maybe that’ll stop a few more children from screaming at their parents to buy them stuff on this game.

Was great when first released. A good challenge, with it saying you only got two more jellies, timed levels then chocolate factories. It gotten more fun when Sugar Drop feature was enabled, and later on Rank Up. Now everything has changed. Levels from 60 upwards made harder. Revised to Super Hard and above sometimes. Brings in more frustration as never enough allocation of moves. Events you are playing against bots now, and even to win you have to use more boosters than you get as reward to claim. Much more, or be on it all day with no life. Sugar Drops and Rank Up gone by 2021. Since then this game has got worse and worse. No fun by now, no challenge as hopelessness and frustration takes over in hard or harder levels, which are a large percentage of all levels, about 33%. Episode race remains but must get first place then use the gold to pass the next episode, if very lucky with the hard and super hard, and most of all Legendary levels which are absolutely ridiculous. You must now pay to progress after every episode. Will not take long to reach that stage if you start playing now. The revamp to Legendary levels in the past 12 months has hammered the final nail in the coffin, to how it was in 2013. The game has ran out of steam, time to wind it up and say it was good while it lasted. Release a new version, we can all start again and have some fun, and a challenge not hopeless.

I’ve enjoyed candy crush for many years however recently the game has been through many changes which I really like. They changed the old music which gave it its funny arcade like style however now the music seems boring. Certain levels seems like chores because certain levels have been made ridiculously hard in the first 150 levels yet some levels I can do in 5 moves. They removed the classic objectives changing cherries into gummy dragons and removing chocolate, bombs and chocolate generators almost entirely. Boosters also seem a lot harder to get with few events and some events making you beat nearly 200 levels to get next to nothing. Now the game just seems like pay to win as to beat some levels it may take many many hours. I also do wish the easier levels and the introduction levels were quickly done as currently the full tutorial ends on level 30 or something like that. Yet originally the tutorial would end on like level 10. Finally certain boosters take ages to unlock with the highest one unlocking on around level 104 Personally I wish the older ways were reintroduced and I hope for these changes to happen soon. This would hopefully end many hours of boredom.
