Chaos synchronization between complex networks with uncertain structures and unknown parameters

Zhang Meng, Lyu Ling, Lyu Na, Fan Xin
2012 Wuli xuebao
Chaos synchronization between complex networks with uncertain structures and unknown parameters is investigated. By designing appropriate control inputs, we achieve the synchronization between two complex networks. The unknown parameters of nodes at two networks and the coupling strength between the nodes are identified simultaneously in the process of synchronization. The CO2 laser equation with modulation loss is taken for example to simulate experiment. It is found that the synchronization performance between two networks is very stable.

2012 Wuli xuebao
The synchronization and the parameter identification of a complex network are studied, in which nodes are uncertain spatiotemporal chaos systems. The recognition laws of parameters are designed, and the unknown parameters in spatiotemporal chaos systems at the nodes of the complex network are identified. An appropriate Lyapunov function is constructed, and the conditions of realizing global synchronization of the network are discussed and confirmed based on the stability theory. The uncertain

2021 Journal of Chemistry
It is crucial to explore new methods to deal with ammonia pollution in hog barns. In this experiment, ammonia gas generated from the decomposition of nitrogenous organic matter, such as feed and manure in hog barns, was studied. Growing environmental parameters monitored included temperature, humidity, and ammonia nitrogen concentration. For 92 days between March and May, ammonia emissions were characterized by monitoring and collecting the ammonia concentration during the selected time. The

The collected ammonia-nitrogen-containing wastewater that entered the denitrification device showed 173, 232, 201, and 280 mgNH4-N/L, respectively. An integrated denitrification device with anaerobic ammonia-oxidizing bacteria as a functional strain was used for denitrification treatment. Through the change of ion concentration in the incoming and outgoing water, an 85.5% average denitrification efficiency was calculated according to the denitrification reaction chemical formula. Thus, the results presented here provide data support for the future use of microbial denitrification equipment to treat ammonia in hog houses.

Antimicrobial activity, improved cell selectivity and mode of action of short PMAP-36-derived peptides against bacteria and Candida

2016 Scientific Reports
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have recently attracted a great deal of attention as promising antibiotic candidates, but some obstacles such as toxicity and high synthesis cost must be addressed before developing them further. For developing short peptides with improved cell selectivity, we designed a series of modified PMAP-36 analogues. Antimicrobial assays showed that decreasing chain length in a certain range retained the high antimicrobial activity of the parental peptide and reduced
more » ... is. The 18-mer peptide RI18 exhibited excellent antimicrobial activity against both bacteria and fungi, and its hemolytic activity was observably lower than PMAP-36 and melittin. The selectivity indexes of RI18 against bacteria and fungi were improved approximately 19-fold and 108-fold, respectively, compared to PMAP-36. In addition, serum did not affect the antibacterial activity of RI18 against E. coli but inhibited the antifungal efficiency against C. albicans. Flow cytometry and electron microscopy observation revealed that RI18 killed microbial cells primarily by damaging membrane integrity, leading to whole cell lysis. Taken together, these results suggest that RI18 has potential for further therapeutic research against frequently-encountered bacteria and fungi. Meanwhile, modification of AMPs is a promising strategy for developing novel antimicrobials to overcome drugresistance. The wide use of antibiotics in the past decades has driven the emergence of multidrug-resistant microbes at an unprecedented rate. In the Global Risks 2014 report, antibiotic-resistance was listed as one of thirty-one global risks related to social stability 1 . Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) found in host immune system have been proposed as new anti-infectives to replace or accompany conventional antibiotics due to their broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and unique membrane-action mechanism. In contrast to the majority of available antibiotics that target specific biosynthetic pathways, it is metabolically costly for most microbes to develop resistance to AMPs by mutating or repairing membrane components 2,3 . As typical amphipathic peptides, α -helical peptides have been widely investigated in recent years for clinical trial development 4-6 . However, the application of α -helical AMPs has been hindered by some serious obstacles, such as systemic toxicities and high manufacturing costs. To address these issues, short AMPs derivatives with cell-selective toxicity have been developed based on the amino acid composition, charge, and hydrophobicity of natural AMPs 7-11 . Porcine myeloid antimicrobial peptide-36 (PMAP-36) is a cathelicidin-related antimicrobial peptide deduced from porcine myeloid cDNA with an amphipathic α -helical conformation at the N-terminus 12 . Of all 11 porcine cathelicidins, PMAP-36 contains the highest net positive charge, which is considered an important parameter for peptide activity 13, 14 . Previous studies have indicated that full-length PMAP-36 has potent antimicrobial activity 12,15 and high toxicity 15 . To reduce its toxicity, we previously synthesized a series of PMAP-36 derivatives and characterized their antimicrobial and hemolytic activity. GI24, a 24-residue α -helical peptide truncated from the N-terminus of PMAP-36, retained high antibacterial activity, suggesting that the N-terminal domain of PMAP-36 is its active center. In addition, deletion of the random coil C-terminal eliminated the hemolysis caused by PMAP-36 15 . To develop shorter peptides in favour of reducing toxicity and synthesis cost, a series of derivatives

Wireless Virtual Network Embedding Algorithm Based on Deep Reinforcement Learning

Qi Gao, Na Lyu, Jingcheng Miao, Wu Pan
2022 Electronics
Wireless network virtualization is widely used to solve the ossification problem of networks, such as 5G and the Internet of Things. The most crucial method of wireless network virtualization is virtual network embedding, which allows virtual networks to share the substrate network resources. However, in wireless networks, link interference is an inherent problem while mapping virtual networks because of the characteristics of wireless channels. To distribute resources efficiently and address
more » ... e problem of interference, a dynamic embedding algorithm with deep reinforcement learning is proposed. During the training stage, we take resource use and interference from substrate networks as observations to train the agent, and then the agent generates a resource allocation strategy. Aiming at realizing load balance, we reshape the reward function considering the execution ratio and residual ratio of substrate network resources as well as the cost consumed by current virtual network request. Numerical tests show that our embedding approach increases the acceptance ratio and maintains better robustness. Moreover, the results also illustrate that our algorithm maintains a high acceptance ratio while producing less interference and lower cost.

2020 Studies in English Language Teaching
The classroom feedback of English teachers plays an important role in classroom teaching. It is part of the comprehensible input of students and also effectively promotes the language output of students. With the continuous promotion of mixed teaching mode, college English classroom feedback has different characteristics from the original teaching feedback. How to make good use of the feedback of college English class under the mixed teaching mode and improve its effectiveness is a subject that needs to be studied seriously.
